As discussed in class, mission statements are an important part in helping to set the strategic direction of an organization. As such, a person should be able to look at the mission statement and identify key elements that might be used on a daily basis to make decisions. After reviewing the attached Mission Statement, please address the following questions: (30 pts total) a. What are the primary customer needs that GOCLEAN aims to satisfy? (1 pt) b. What are the primary customer market segments that GOCLEAN is targeting? (2 pts) c. A customer from Germany offers GOCLEAN a chance to enter that market. The sales representative is of course in favor of such a move because she will earn a commission on the sale. The sales representative asks her boss to approve the sale. Per the mission statement, should the boss approve the sale? Why or why not? (2 pts) d. Another company approached GOCLEAN about having GOCLEAN’S sales force represent this other company’s line of air filters. Supporting your answer from wording in the mission statement, should management approve of adding the new line of air filters? Why or why not? (2 pts) e. Scenario: In the process of servicing a client’s vacuum cleaner, you need to order an uncommon part. The part comes in a box with a quantity of three part items—you only need to use one item on the client’s repair. Because the part is not common, it will probably be a long time before you have a need to use the remaining two parts. Supporting your answer from the mission statement, do you charge the current client for only one item from the box or do you charge the client for the entire box even though you only use one item.? (2 pts) k. Scenario: You are a supervisor for GOCLEAN. One of your employees approaches you asking for some time off to attend their child’s unexpected trip to the state volleyball tournament. The employee has used up their vacation. In the past the employee has been a responsible employee—only occasionally missing work or asking time off for medical appointments. Scenario: The owner of the company is explaining a new direction for the company and the changes that will impact you. You strongly disagree with some of the changes that will be implemented.
